Interview Revengia

METAL CHOC

Can you tell us more about your new album called « Eraser » ?

Eraser was recorded during the period of summer 2005 and January 2007. It was mixed and mastered in 2007. Japanese release was in November 2007 and the rest of the world had to wait until spring 2009. The members for the recording were Matti Almsenius, Martin Karlsson, Daniel Erlandsson and Andreas Tomasson. All songs are newly written material.

Can you speak to us about the recording sessions ?

We recorded on different locations in our hometown, Varberg, but also in Gothenburg. We mixed the song at Studio Fredman in Hyssna. It took pretty long time because I redid the guitars three times and Andreas moved to Philadelphia a period as well.

How did you proceed for the composition ?

Normally we start with the lyrics. If I see a combination of words that appeal to me rhythmically I can work from that and I can start to work out a song from that.

What are the lyrics talking about ? Where do you find inspiration ?

The lyrics is a mix between own experiences (Hollow soul, Life), reflections from what happens in the world (Holy Lies, Pain) and pure fiction (Prince of darkness, Back to hell)

Who created the artwork ?

It was artist Joe Pentagno. I’ve always admired his work from Motorhead, and he has done fine work with Alice Cooper, Nazareth and Led Zeppelin too. So we are in good company J He made the painting out from our lyrics.

Did you film a promotional video ?

No, but we would love toJ

What’s your favourite track on « Eraser » and why ?

My favourite track is PAIN. This was the first track I wrote for ERASER and it came out so well. I really like everything with the song, all from the writing stage to the finished song on the record. To me it represent the bridge from the old REVENGIA to the new up-to-date REVENGIA. I really like the lyrics as well.

Which songs from the album will you play live ?

So far we have played All songs except Sweet Dreams and Deny

What are your touring plans ?

None at the moment, but we are working at it.

What are your favourite bands and all times albums ?

Deep Purple, Gillan, Motorhead, Loudness, and Tank. Favourite album is Deep Purple – Made in Japan

Do you have funny or strange stories about the band you can share with us ?

Not particularlyJ We had our small incidents in the past, but not that interesting.

What are your projects for the future ?

We are now writing new material for our next record. So far we have 10 songs written and we will write about 4-5 before we’re ready to record. We will start recording in beginning of 2010. Hopefully we will do some shows in between

And as a conclusion, can you say some words for my radio show called Metal Choc ?
